In 2010, the West Australian Symphony Orchestra (WASO) contacted Spectrum TV to produce a live webcast of their classical music concerts to increase their online presence and take their performances to a wider audience outside of the maximum seating capacity of just over 1,700 people at the Perth Concert Hall. Starting with a basic 3 camera coverage of the 80 piece orchestra and conductor, the initial performance had close to 1,000 live online views, reaching over 10,000 views weeks and months later as people watched it back on demand. Over the next several years the orchestra grew to live streaming on average 4 – 6 of their performances every year, with the quality of the coverage improving to 8 high definition cameras, all live and free to watch anywhere in the world online. The total views of these live and on demand webcasts has now reached into the hundreds of thousands, growing more and more each week. The orchestra now has their own live stream page which is promotes via social media for upcoming live streams as well as a youtube page that hosts all of the previous webcasts. Spectrum TV is proud to work with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra to take their world class music to the world.
